Based in Douglas for four nights, you will embark on three guided walks of 4 to 5 miles each. Traverse dramatic coastlines, explore historic settlements, and wander through quiet glens as a knowledgeable local guide brings the island’s wildlife, heritage, and stories to life.

Itinerario

Day 1 - Welcome to the Isle of Man

Travel by ferry to the Isle of Man and check into The Claremont Hotel in Douglas. Spend the rest of the day settling in before meeting the rest of the group for welcome drinks and dinner.

Día 2 – Ferrocarril de Vapor, Abadía de Rushen y Castletown

There will be time to explore the town, enjoy lunch at your leisure and, if you wish, use your Go Explore Heritage Pass to visit Castle Rushen, one of Europe's best-preserved medieval castles, before returning to Douglas by steam train.

Día 3 – Laxey, la tumba del Rey Orry y la Gran Rueda de Laxey

Today, travel on the Manx Electric Railway with sweeping views of the Irish Sea. The journey to Laxey is a highlight in itself, offering a unique glimpse of the island’s landscapes.

The walk begins at Laxey Station, with the first stop being the iconic Great Laxey Wheel, the world’s largest working waterwheel and a proud symbol of the island’s mining heritage (entry included with Go Explore Heritage Pass).

The route then climbs gently towards Agneash, a former mining village nestled in the hills, before winding across peaceful countryside paths.

Day 3 – The Great Laxey Wheel, King Orry's Grave & Laxey Village

Día 4 – Tynwald, St John's y Peel

This morning, the group walks to Douglas bus station to board a service heading west to St John’s, a village with special importance in Manx culture. St John’s is home to Tynwald Hill, the ancient site of the island’s parliament, which has met here for over a thousand years and is recognised as the oldest continuous parliament in the world.

From St John’s, the route follows part of the Heritage Trail, a peaceful pathway along a former railway line, before turning towards Knockaloe Beg and climbing onto Peel Hill. Here, the views stretch across the Irish Sea and over the harbour town of Peel. A short detour leads to Corrin’s Folley, a 19th-century monument and superb vantage point.

The walk concludes with a descent into Peel, arriving by the dramatic ruins of Peel Castle, once a stronghold of Viking kings. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent exploring Peel’s narrow streets, harbourfront, using your Heritage Go Explore Pass to visit Peel Castle or House of Manannan and enjoying refreshments in one of its cafes or pubs before returning to Douglas by bus (hourly service).

Walk routes. All walks are subject to weather conditions, and route adjustments may be made for safety. Day 4 offers a gentler alternative for those who prefer to skip the Peel Hill climb.

Ferry travel: Return ferry tickets are included from any UK port serving the Isle of Man. Travel to your chosen port is not included.
