Isle of Man Discovery Holiday

Overview

The Isle of Man Discovery Holiday is ideal for first-time visitors who want the important parts of their trip arranged, while still having the freedom to explore the island at their own pace.

Your holiday includes return ferry travel, four nights’ accommodation in Douglas with breakfast, our full-day Taste of the Isle of Man guided sightseeing tour and a Heritage Explorer Pass for the duration of your stay.

Start with a guided introduction to the island, discovering some of its best-known scenery, towns and landmarks with a knowledgeable local guide. Then spend two days exploring independently, using the island’s buses and heritage railways to discover castles, museums, coastal towns and countryside.

It’s a simple way to experience the Isle of Man: travel and accommodation arranged, a guided introduction included, and plenty of time to discover the island your own way.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Welcome to the Isle of Man

Travel to the Isle of Man by ferry and make your way to your accommodation in Douglas.

After checking in, the rest of the day is yours. Take a walk along Douglas Promenade, explore the town or enjoy your first evening on the island.

Day 2 – Taste of the Isle of Man

Today you’ll join our full-day Taste of the Isle of Man sightseeing tour – the perfect introduction to the island.

Travel through beautiful countryside, coastal scenery and historic towns as your local guide shares the stories, places and people that make the Isle of Man unique.

You’ll visit some of the island’s best-known locations and finish the day with a much better understanding of the island – and plenty of ideas about where you’d like to explore next.

Day 3 – Explore Your Way

Today is yours to explore independently using your included Heritage Explorer Pass.

You might take the historic Steam Railway south from Douglas to Castletown, explore Castle Rushen and the town’s historic centre, before continuing towards Port Erin and the beautiful south-west coast.

Or simply choose your own route – your Explorer Pass gives you the flexibility to use scheduled buses and heritage railways throughout the island.

Day 4 – Another Day to Discover

Enjoy another full day exploring at your own pace.

Head north on the Manx Electric Railway, stop at Laxey to see the famous Great Laxey Wheel, continue towards Ramsey, or use the day to discover somewhere that caught your attention during your guided tour.

With your transport and participating heritage attractions covered by your Explorer Pass, the choice is yours.

Day 5 – Farewell

After breakfast, check out of your accommodation and make your way to the ferry terminal for your journey home.

We hope you’ll leave having discovered just how much there is to see on the Isle of Man – and with a reason to return.
