Viaggiare verso l'Isola di Man: La tua guida ai nuovi requisiti ETA (Aggiornamento 2026)

Planning a trip to the extraordinary Isle of Man? Whether you’re joining us for the adrenaline of the TT races or the scenery of our UNESCO Biosphere, there is a new, essential step in your travel checklist.

As of 23 April 2026, the Isle of Man has officially begun enforcing the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme. This system aligns our border requirements with the rest of the Common Travel Area (CTA), ensuring that travel remains secure and seamless for all our guests.

Do I Need an ETA?

If you are a “non-visa national”—which includes citizens of the United States, Canada, and all European Union countries—you now require an ETA to enter the Island for visits of up to six months. This requirement applies to everyone, including infants and children.

You DO NOT need an ETA if you are:

  • A British or Irish Citizen: You must travel using your British or Irish passport. (An Isle of Man variant passport is a British passport.
  • A Resident of the Republic of Ireland: If you are travelling to the Isle of Man from within the CTA (Ireland, UK, Jersey, or Guernsey).
  • A Valid Visa Holder: If you already have a visa to live, work, or study in the CTA.
Settled Status Holders: Those with status under the EU Settlement Scheme.

Special Guidance for our US & European Visitors

Because many of our guests at Duke Travel and Isle of Man Experiences join us from across the Atlantic and mainland Europe, here is exactly how the process works for you:

1. “No Permission, No Travel”
Airlines and ferry operators are now legally required to check for your ETA before you board. If you do not have a digital ETA linked to your passport, you will be denied boarding.

2. How to Apply
The process is entirely digital—no paperwork or embassy visits required.
The App: Download the “UK ETA” app on your smartphone for the fastest experience.
Online: You can also apply via the official GOV.UK website.
Cost: £20 per person.
Timeline: Most applications are approved within minutes, but we strongly recommend applying at least 3 working days before you travel.

3. One ETA, Four Jurisdictions
The Isle of Man, the UK, Jersey, and Guernsey mutually recognise each other’s ETAs. If you are flying from New York to London and then onward to Douglas, you only need one ETA to cover your entire trip.

4. Entry via the Republic of Ireland
If you are a US or European citizen flying into Dublin and then taking the ferry or a flight to the Isle of Man, you must have your ETA ready. Even though there is no routine passport control between Ireland and the Isle of Man, an ETA is still required for this route.

For the latest official updates, always check the Isle of Man Government Immigration website.
